Departed Soles Brewing Company's Beer

Our brewery is proud to offer one of the most unique selections of craft beer not only in New Jersey, but all of the Tri-State Area. Departed Soles is one of the only brewery’s crafting beer with tradition ingredients, such as barley and wheat, as well as options with 100% Gluten Free ingredients, fermented in dedicated fermentations vessels. Below is a selection of beers that we brew in our Jersey City brewery throughout the year, many of which are served in our Tasting Room any given weekend!

Departed Soles Light Rail Ale

California Common • 5.2%

This craft beer is a hybrid of three traditional styles of craft beer, featuring a Vienna lager malt bill, ale yeast, and tiny amount of hops, balanced to be appealing to every palate.

Belgian Ale • 8%

A hybrid between a Belgian Tripel & Belgian Blonde, this beer has the esters & spices of a Tripel but is light, less phenolic, and sweet, like a traditional Golden.

Departed Soles Red Headed Step Brewer

Amber Ale / Red Ale • 5.8%

DSBC’s twist on a traditional Red Ale, featuring Caramel and Chocolate Malts, resulting in a darker color and pleasing aroma with minimal hop bitterness.

Modern Cup of Sole

Coffee Beer • 4.9%

Brewed in conjunction with ModCup Coffee in Jersey City Heights, our first local collaboration beer utilizes a cold brew coffee in a wort reminiscent of a light, dry stout. The end result is a coffee forward craft beer with minimal bitterness and a light coffee kiln and chocolate malt backbone, along with some lactose.

Cantankerous Blonde aka "South Ward Ale"

Honey Blonde Ale • 5.4%

We teamed up with the Fuse Media to brew this beer originally, then the Viking Army Supporters to create a light, semi-sweet tailgating beer. The result is our honey blonde ale, which starts off with honey derived sweetness and rounds out with a bready, malt finish.

New England Double IPA • 7.4%

Our take on an East Coast Double IPA, Deuces features a subtle yeast haze, rich fruity flavor, similar to mango and grapefruit, plus a well balanced bitterness.

The Nuggy Monster

Hoppy, Rye Saison • 8.5%

Not your traditional saision, we brewed ours to be a whopping 8.5% with a touch of Rye for sweetness and oats for body, plus a Monster hand of Nugget hops for a touch of bitterness!

Big Nuts

Imperial Nut Brown Ale • 8.3%

A healthy dose of chocolate and caramel malts give our Nut Brown Ale a smooth body and flavor, with just a hint of peanut butter (no nuts were harmed in the making of this beer, in case you have an allergy).

From time to time, our brewer likes to mess around with unique and experimental ingredients, or put a twist on one of our traditional recipes. Sorry, I’m Not Sorry if they don’t come out great, but we view brewing as a relationship with the beer gods and the consumer. Everyone has flaws… some of these will be great and become full-scale batches, while some of them will never be seen from again! If you take yourself (and your online beer ratings or check-ins) too seriously, how can you enjoy the art in the craft?
